Nolais is a 23-year-old alternative R&B artist from London whose music blends emotional vulnerability with immersive, understated production. Originally from Amsterdam and of Surinamese and Nigerian heritage, his artistry is shaped by a mix of cultural influences and deeply personal storytelling. Rooted in soft melodies, lo-fi textures, and introspective lyricism, Nolais creates music that feels intimate and conversational, less like performance art, more like emotional honesty set to sound.
He began teaching himself production during the 2021 pandemic, building his sound from a bedroom studio in North-West London alongside friends collaborating over Zoom and Discord. Influenced by artists such as Bryson Tiller and Destin Conrad, Nolais developed a style defined by contrast: soft vocals over hard-hitting production, vulnerability balanced with restraint, and storytelling delivered with subtle precision.
Early releases including Self-Respect, Insecure, Move On, and No Bad Vibes established the emotional foundation of his catalogue, while breakout track I Know marked a turning point in his artistic growth and audience reach. Alongside his own releases, he has also contributed as a songwriter for artists including JayO, Jim Legxacy, and Summer Banton. Quietly and consistently, Nolais is carving out a distinctive space within contemporary R&B — one built on authenticity, emotion, and connection.
